Tutor Administrator 

Role description:  

We are looking for a highly organised individual who can co-ordinate the tuition programmes run by Creative Tuition Collective, working closely with the Director of Communications and Wellbeing.  

Responsibilities include:  

  • Creating and updating tuition timetables  

  • Supporting tutor training 

  • Supporting staff in general administration, e.g. DBS applications 

  • Co-ordinate tutor mentorship programme  

 

Hours: 5-10 per month (voluntary) with any overtime paid.   

Essential: Excellent IT-literacy, comfortable using Excel. Highly organised. Demonstrable knowledge of the unique experiences of members of underrepresented communities.  

Desirable: Experience using project management/timetabling software. Experience in a HR or administration role. Experience working in the not-for-profit and/or educational spheres

Research & Project Co-ordinator 

Role description:  

Are you interested inclusive research and educational practice across STEM? We are looking for someone to lead our research and projects team alongside the CEO of Creative Tuition Collective. The aim of this role is to support CTC in establishing good and well-funded research opportunities as well as overseeing current projects. 

Responsibilities include: 

• Identify relevant education research (in particular related to protected characteristics) and developments with knowledge of current news and statistics for the website and to inform our future practice.   

•  Create and/or seek out paid research partnerships and opportunities with institutions and community groups.  

• Maintain and manage existing professional relationships. 

Hours: 5-10 per month (voluntary), with any overtime paid. 

Essential: Experience in research in STEM. This does not need to be at an advanced level, but a good level of understanding on conducting mini-research projects. Experience with communication and liaising with clients. Demonstrable knowledge of the unique experiences of members of underrepresented communities in education. Experience with data handling and research, preferably within education. Knowledge of UK school curriculum.    
Desirable: Teaching experience with groups/classes. Working with underrepresented communities. Working with underfunded education organisations/schools. Knowledge of Bristol schools and local community organisations.

Community Engagement Lead 

Role Description: 

Are you looking for experience in STEM community outreach that positively impacts young people? We are looking for an individual to pioneer STEM-related community events and engagement. We wish to engage with community groups and organisations throughout the city to collaborate on events and support one another. We will be providing training for the role. 

Responsibilities include: 

• Meeting and engaging with community groups throughout Bristol related to the work conducted by Creative Tuition Collective (CTC), establishing connections and leading on projects.  

• Working with young people and establishing a community engaged in the CTC content and work i.e. bridging the gap between local schools with our target audiences and CTC. 

• Delivering talks  

 

Hours: 5-10 per month (voluntary), with any overtime paid  

Essential: Experience in community outreach work and working with young people. This does not need to be at an advanced level. Experience in public engagement and speaking. Demonstrable knowledge of the unique experiences of members of underrepresented communities in education. This role requires an enhanced DBS check.    

Preferred: Engagement experience with groups/classes. Working with underrepresented communities. Working with underfunded education organisations/schools. Knowledge of Bristol schools and local community organisations.

Fundraising Lead  

Role Description: 

Are you looking for experience in fundraising for a social enterprise? We are looking for an individual to help us to fundraise and locate endorsements and sponsorship for Creative Tuition to help continue funding our education programmes which include tuition, workshops and metal health support. We will be providing training for the role. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Engaging and networking with local STEM and non-STEM organisations throughout Bristol and the Southwest of England.  

  • Communicating with potential supporters both nationally and internationally and seeking out potential starts through social media. 

  • Writing funding applications and creating fundraising strategies and leading on promoting donations/drives.

  • Working with other community groups to raise money. 

 

Hours: 5-10 per month (voluntary), with any overtime paid. 

Essential: Experience in writing funding applications. This does not need to be at an advanced level. Experience in public engagement and networking. Demonstrable knowledge of sponsorship and fundraising opportunities. 

Desirable: Experience in communicating professionally with organisations and institutions. Working with underfunded education organisations/schools. Knowledge of raising funds and acquiring sponsorship.

STEM Careers Lead 

Role Description: 
Are you looking for experience in helping young people to reach their goals? We are looking for an individual to help us to create STEM career resources, signposting career opportunities and working to build the confidence of young people unsure of their career.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Researching and creating STEM career resources to show young people how to convert what they enjoy within school into viable careers.  

  • Helping young people within the CTC cohort and wider community to build their essential career skillset and aspirations.  

  • Networking with organisations alongside the Fundraising Lead in order to understand the local opportunities available. Fostering potential collaborations between CTC and local STEM organisations 

 

Hours: 5-10 per month (voluntary), with any overtime paid. 

Essential: Experience in careers advice and career development (you own experience of navigating the job market is valid enough). Must have experience in engaging with young people and a DBS check. This does not need to be at an advanced level. Experience in public engagement and networking. Demonstrable knowledge of writing job applications and CVs. 

Desirable: Experience with communicating young people from underrepresented groups. Working with underfunded education organisations/schools. Knowledge of internships, apprenticeships and university (does not have to be extensive and can learn on the job).

Creative Tutors

Role Description:  
Creative Tuition Collective are looking for STEM tutor candidates with a background in STEM who are passionate about education and closing the attainment gap. We will provide successful applicants with training in tuition, student safeguarding and equality, diversity & inclusion practices. We are looking for those who can teach Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Coding/Tech to GCSE-age schoolpupils. This is a paid role and we will also pair you with a mentor in a STEM-related field of your choice to aid you in the advancement of your own career.

Salary: £12.50/hr (£10/hr for training sessions) 

Hours: Approx 3 hours of training (sessions run August-September 2021), then supporting 1-2 students with a weekly tuition session from October 2021-March 2022.  

 

Essential: Graduate or student (2nd year minimum) in a relevant STEM subject. Demonstrable knowledge of the unique experiences of members of underrepresented communities.  

Desirable: Experience working in education and/or not-for-profit organisations. Community outreach/engagement work.

Volunteer Roles 

Social Media Lead  

Role Description:  

We’re looking for someone who can research and create content for our social media. Experience managing social media campaigns is essential for this, ideally in the not-for-profit sector. We’d also be asking you to create the occasional infographic and posters for adverts and events, etc.  

Responsibilities include:  

  • Creating social media content 

  • Writing short articles on any news or research that may be relevant to Creative Tuition Collective (largely in STEM and educational fields) to be published on our website. 

  • Other digital content creation   

You will be working closely with the Director of Communications and Wellbeing to plan out monthly social media and website content. We would be expecting you to come up with the majority of the ideas and stay on top of key dates that are relevant to the organisation, e.g. LGBTQIA History Month, Black History Month, etc.  

 
Hours: 5-10 per month (voluntary) with any overtime paid.   

Essential: Experience managing social media accounts for a business or charity. Experience using software such as Adobe Spark or Canva to create social media content or similar. Demonstrable awareness of the unique and complex experiences of individuals with protected characteristics.    

Desirable: Degree in marketing, graphic design or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience in community outreach, social justice, charity work
